Oakland Fireplace & Hearth, September, 2024
Self-explanatory. Massive difference. This cost under $1,000 and added $15,000 to the property value.

This client wanted to lighten up the room by plastering over an existing stone fireplace and hearth. Work began bay planing-out the shape of the fireplace, grinding down protuberances. We chose a polymer-infused white mortar.
Chose not to demo a rather large chimney that didn’t look modern or fit the ranch style home. Used a power grinder and 4.5″ carbide blade to cut overhangs, and boxed above the mantle. All angles are mitered/beveled.
This was faux slate ceramic tile, which was chosen not for cost but texture and size. These are each 36″ long, making a 6′ wide hearth.
